Did you know what you eat and drink contributes to what your skin looks and feels like on the outside? So taking these small steps will be very helpful. Broccoli, spinach and collards are just some examples of richly coloured leafy greens full of antioxidants that helps build your skin from the inside out. Some others sources for healthy skin include eating, cantaloupe, berries, carrots, tomatoes, and walnuts amongst many other healthy nutritious snacks. And lets not forget one of the MAIN sources for healthy skin, WATER!!! Water is the #1 source for healthy glowing skin. Why? Because it flushes out impurities and junk that are not good for your skin and your body! Drinking plenty of water helps keeps pores unclogged and your skin hydrated and feeling great! So, eating leafy veggies and fruits full of antioxidants and drinking plenty of water will get you going in the right direction for beautiful skin.
Finding the right skin moisturizer is also very important. If your skin is too oily, your going to want a moisturizer that helps control the oiliness. Please note that having some oil is good for you. Why? Because it keeps your skin lubricated and wrinkle free. If your dry, look for a moisturizer that's going to help put moisture back into your skin. If your sensitive find one that is unscented and hypoallergenic. Also, your daytime moisturizer should have an SPF of 15 0r 30. Its recommended that you don't use an SPF at night. Night time is the best time to use something that is targeted towards a specific skin issue or use something that is very nourishing and deep conditioning.
Exfoliating is a skin treatment that helps get rid of the uppermost layer of dead skin cells so the finer skin is showing. Exfoliating 1- 3 times a week helps speed up the process of getting rid of flaky, shedding skin. Look for facial scrubs that are gentle with fine scrubbing beads in them. On the days you decide to exfoliate make sure you exfoliate after you cleanse and before you tone.
The next step to getting healthy, glowing skin is cleansing. Cleansing the face at least twice
a day (a morning rinse and a night rinse) helps cleanse the face of any dirt, oil, makeup, or any impurities in your skin caused by the environment on a daily basis. The difference between a morning and night cleanser is the fact that, a night cleansers purpose is to remove any makeup, oil, dirt and debris caused by the environment. It's also a little stronger then morning cleansers. Morning cleansers purpose is to solely remove any dirt and oil accumulated over night and is more on the gentler side. Now, The first step in finding what face cleanser is best for you is finding your skin type. Are you oily, dry, normal? Do you have combination skin or are you sensitive? Knowing this will save you a lot of time and money. A good way to find out your skin type is to monitor your skin throughout the day. Meaning, do you start out normal and end dry? Start out normal and end oily? Or is it sensitive? Also, take into consideration what your eating through out the day and how much water you're drinking. And lastly stay away from using bar soap on your face unless it indicates that its formulated specifically for the face. Bar soaps strips the skin of its natural oils leaving it vulnerable to bacteria and dehydration. Remember the purpose of skin care is about hydration and getting your natural oils flowing.

Toning! Always Always Always tone after cleansing. Your skin and hair have a pH of 4.5 and 5.5. Cleansing your face raises your pH, while toning helps bring it back down to its natural levels. If you notice sometimes after cleansing your face it may seem a little dry and or tight, its because your pH levels are raised and it needs something to make it normal. Toning also closes the pores and prevents any absorption of bacteria. Its like using a shampoo and conditioner. When you shampoo your hair it raises your pH, opening up the cuticle to get rid of any dirt, product buildup and unwanted oiliness from the hair. The purpose of the conditioner is to bring the pH back to normal levels and close the cuticle layer down while adding proteins and moisture back into the hair. When looking for a toner make sure to look for a toner that is moisturizing and alcohol free. As alcohol dries the skin and we want to stay away from that.

So what did we learn here? Having a skin regimen is important. Eating right helps contribute to having healthy radiant skin on the inside. While cleansing, toning, moisturizing, and exfoliating helps take care of everything on the outside.
